Caspian is a city in Iron County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 906 at the 2010 census. ==History== Caspian was founded with the name Palatka in 1901. It was a mining village. With the expansion of the mines a second adjacent village named Caspian was founded in 1908. The location was bad for mining and a new adjacent village called New Caspian was formed in 1909. The whole area was incorporated as the village of Caspian in 1918.〔Walter Romig, ''Michigan Place Names'', p. 102〕
